Announcements - last updated on Friday, June 27, 2008 OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY EUCHARIST is Friday, July 4, at 9:00 am. MANY THANKS to those who have contributed toward our boiler replacement. Contributions have reached 23% of the expected costs and your gifts to help defray these costs are greatly appreciated. FROM THE VESTRY - In recent weeks some personal items have disappeared from the narthex and vesting room during Holy Eucharist. The vestry would like to remind all of our parish family that the best form of security we have is our own parishioners. A polite, "May I help you?" may be all that is needed to prevent something from walking away. Greeting a stranger with a friendly, "Hello, I don't believe I have met you, " is a wonderful way to share the community that we have with each other, and also to add to a general feeling of secure well being for all of us. Please help us in this; you will benefit as well by getting to know more of your parish family. FROM THE PARISH NURSE - Please talk to Susan Day if you have any questions. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL July 7-11, 9:00 am - 11:30 am MONTHLY POTLUCKS AT OUR SAVIOUR! The Fellowship Commission has decided to expand the fellowship hour once a month. On the first Sunday of each month, we will have a potluck lunch after the second Eucharist rather than just coffee and cookies. The next potluck lunch will be Sunday, July 6. If you are able to serve on a committee to help coordinate the potlucks (set-up, clean-up, etc.) please call Sally Hubbell. OUR JULY BOOK DISCUSSION is Monday, July 14, at 7:00 pm. Please note that this is the second Monday of July, instead of the third, a change made necessary by Father Casey's summer schedule. Discussion is of Infidel, the personal memoir of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. This is a MUST read, the story of the shaping of the life of a courageous woman amidst the complicated influences of God, religion, culture, obligations, love and faith, oppression and freedom. Copies are available in the Chapel Shop. Get your copy and join us for the discussion in the Parish Hall Sun Room. OUR SEPTEMBER BOOK DISCUSSION is Monday, September 15 at 7:00 pm. Discussion is of Saturday, Ian McEwan's engaging story about the complexities of human life and the interplay of crises and priorities. Copies are available in the Chapel Shop. Get your copy and join us for the discussion in the Parish Hall Sun Room. EPISCOPAL SUMMER CAMPS AT TRINITY RANCH - Information about the dates, costs, and deadlines for 2008 camping for young people at Trinity Ranch this coming summer is available in the narthex. For registration forms and scholarships, if needed, please speak to Father Casey. Elementary II Camp - July 6-12 / High School Camp - July 13-19 / Wilderness Camp - July 27-August 3 (Grades 10-12). THRIFT HOUSE still has opening for the July schedule for volunteers. We need you and your donations. Please call or email Hedy DuCharme. THE CATECHUMENATE MIGHT BE FOR YOU - First session, Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 7:00 - 8:30 pm. The Catechumenate is a process that was used by the early Christians to prepare adults for Holy Baptism. Today it also does that and more. Participants might be preparing for baptism, or for confirmation, reception into the Episocpal Church, renewal of their baptismal vows, or just finding out everything you wanted to know about church and faith. We meet in the Parish Hall on Wednesday evening from September 17 to Ash Wednesday (February 25 next year), with breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have an informal "bring your own dinner" at 6:00 pm, and the sessions are from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. There is a signup sheet in the narthex. If you have any questions, ask Father Casey or Kate. PHOTO CLUB: Our next meeting will be Sunday, July 13, 2008, also our next quarterly rotation. We have a very special speaker arranged for our get together. Please call Judy or Tom if this sounds interesting to you! PARISH PigNic - mark your calendars for Saturday, September 13, for the 2008 Annual PigNic. Any event this big needs lots of people to make it all happen, so call Guy if you would like to help. The Youth Group is sponsoring a Shoe, Rice and an Art Supplies Drive for Los Pobres Center in Avondale, CO, to benefit families and individuals in the southern Colorado region. Los Pobres Center is an outreach program run by the Sisters of Charity in Avondale, CO. This ministry was originally created to serve migrant farm workers.
